Author Of The Month

Well fellow book lovers, it’s that time again. It’s time for me to pick the Author Of The Month! Now, you all should know how hard this really is. There are so many great authors out there. I can only pick one! Luckily, I’m doing this once a month so whoever doesn’t get picked now will have another chance at the next one!

I would like your input on this eventually. I’d like you to be able to nominate authors you want to see on my Author Of The Month (15th of every month dears) blog. If I start getting enough, I’ll do votes and the most voted will be featured. Until then, I’ll be picking from a list at random every month.

This Month’s Author:

Melanie James! I figured having her as Author Of The Month would be really fitting. Especially since she just released a new book a few weeks ago. That’s right! Conjuring Darkness is finally out and ready to buy! This obsessed book reader bought three copies! I bought a copy for myself and gifted two copies to my loved ones! If you haven’t yet, pick up your copy today. (She did not pay me to say this. I’m reading it now and it’s addicting!)

 About The Author:

Melanie James is a Western Pennsylvania native who spent several years in the Chicago area before being dragged to the frozen land of Northeast Wisconsin she has called home for the last 9 years.  Not that she minded, Chicago is nice to visit but she didn't care for living there.  She prefers living in the country or small towns than in or around a big city.

Melanie  is married to the most wonderful husband a woman could ask for.  She has two fabulous kids that keep her on her toes and she wouldn't trade them for the world or even consider selling them on e-bay.  Most Days!

About The Books:

A Valentine’s Surprise:

Adam is a local police officer who has never been interested in finding romance or love. He spent the last ten years raising his kid sister after their parents were killed by a drunk driver. When his seemingly quiet morning patrol takes a deadly turn, Adam starts to think about life and love a little differently. He sets his sights on the beautiful yet guarded Amanda. Can his fire burn deep enough to unlock her innocent heart?
This is a novella approx 20,000 words.

Conjuring Darkness:

25 year old Lexi Salenko is an independent and focused young woman who has realized her dream of moving to the open country of Montana and starting up a quaint bookstore. Romance and adventure have always remained within the covers of her cherished novels until one day she receives a mysterious letter from her archaeologist sister. The letter was sent from Israel and was badly... damaged, but Lexi understands enough of it that her sister may be in trouble.

Lexi follows the cryptic instructions sent to her and finds herself propelled on an odyssey across three continents with a very sexy former Navy SEAL turned mercenary and a mysterious ancient relic with ties to an ancient cult. She learns about a supernatural force that stretches from the ancient ruins at Gobekli Tepe Turkey through the death camps of the Holocaust and into her present life. Along the way she learns that sometimes you have to let yourself fall in love and believe in the power of hope.

Hey!

Hey my darling book friends! Did you miss me? It’s okay! I promise I’ve been reading! So what’s everybody reading these days? Anybody reading anything awesome? I hope you are! Let us know what you’re reading! Let’s compare notes!

I’ve been reading some pretty heavy books involving abuse and violence. I have loved reading them, but there is a big part of me that needs a tiny break from it for a bit. So I have put them aside for now and picked up Conjuring Darkness by Melanie James. It was just released not too long ago and I’ve been excited to read it!

That’s all I got for now. I promise to try to write in here once a week from now on! How do we feel about making the monthly author pick to weekly author pick? If you are interested in this, I’ll do two blogs a week! Just let me know! You rock for reading my blogs! Happy reading!

You Might Be An Obsessed Book Reader If.....

….. You hesitate giving an answer to attend an awesome party because you just got into a new series.
…… Everything around you reminds you of a book you read.
….. You find that you have nothing in common with non readers.
….. You count the days down on your calendar until the release of the next book in the series.
….. One more chapter than I’m going to bed turns into the rest of the book.
…… You want to be around all your favorite authors so you can keep tabs on when they are releasing a new book
….. You root every heroine and hero on throughout their journey in the story
…… You are reading this and laughing because either some are true or too silly
..... You constantly read more than one book at a time because you couldn't decide which book you wanted to read more!

I hope I didn’t offend anybody by this. I should have thought this out a little better. I felt like being random and silly tonight. I hope you enjoyed it! I put down as many as I can think of. Got more to add? Please feel free to add them in the comments below. Thanks for reading darlings!

April Book Reads

So it turns out that I read ten books for the month of April. As I promised though, I’d be picking one book as my favorite out of all of them though. I just want you to know this has been a very hard thing for me to do. I am not late on this blog because I forgot. I am late because I’ve been trying hard to figure out which one to choose.

Books I Read In April:

*Catherine Howard: Henry’s Fifth Failure by D. Lawrence-Young- it’s about King Henry The VIII’s fifth wife for those of you who don’t know. It’s a really great read.

*Deluge by Daniel Diehl- it’s a version of Noah’s Ark

*A Valentine’s Surprise by Melanie James- It’s about two cynical people who have never fallen in love who meet due to a freak accident.

*For Better Or For Worse by Krissy V. - It’s about this woman who marries the man of her dreams to find out after the wedding he isn’t really who she thought he was.

*Fireflies by P.S. Bartlett- It’s about this little boy who has the ability to heal. His family worries for him because they feel his ability may put him in danger.

*Iron Shinto by Tricia Stewart Shiu-  It’s about three family members who get ripped out of their bodies and sent to another realm. They go through a journey and mission to get their souls back to their bodies.

*Hope From The Ocean by P.S. Bartlett- This is the prequel to Fireflies. It is about the father’s life growing up.

*Kallista by Della Rose- It’s about a girl who pretends to be somebody she’s not in order to marry into another class and ultimately change her own class by doing so.
P.S. Sadly due to low reviews, this book will not be published. I was very sad to read that snippet on Goodreads. I personally felt it was a very great book and I was looking forward to reading its sequel. I guess that will not be happening since they wont be publishing it. I’m kind of praying that they will change their mind and publish it at a later date. Only time will tell though.

*The Forgotten Ones by Laura Howard- It’s about a girl whose mother is insane. A surprise visitor comes to visit her and throws her world upside down.

*Journey To Faith by Tina Klinesmith- It’s about a girl who gets bullied in school because of her mother’s past. She’s struggling to find herself and resents her mother because of how hard it is because of her mother’s past.

I have decided that I really just can’t choose. So at the first of every month, I’m going to just list out the books I read during the month for you to learn about them. That way I don’t have to choose between so many awesome books and you get to see what I’ve been reading. In my opinion, that’s a win-win right?

My Current Books To Be Read Pile

I figured I'd share with you the actual books I have to be read in the coming future. This is only actual books. This doesn't include the e-book pile I have going on. Feel free to check any of these books out. You may find that you want to read them. Who knows.

I don't try to slack off. Really. I just got way over my head so there's so much to read. I'm trying to start worrying less. I know the authors aren't upset with me. At least part of me knows this. They are just happy somebody wants to read and review their books.

Like many people though, I'm a perfectionist. I am harder on myself than others are on me. I'd like to meet a person who can HONESTLY tell me they aren't harder on themselves than anybody else. I'm pretty sure it can't be done. You know?

I honestly can't wait to dive into half these books. I'm being as patient as I can. I know I have a certain order to read them in out of fairness and deadlines. I have a system that has so far worked.

Anyways, hope you enjoy my photo list of all the books I have to read. Hope it gives you some ideas on what to read for yourself. Please remember to review your books. You are helping the author greatly. Most of their sales are based on hour honest reviews.

I recently read a book that will no longer be published because of not getting enough good reviews. It really sucks because I was looking forward to reading other books in the series. I'm hoping the publisher/author will change their mind and publish it anyways, but chances aren't that great. I'll post a link to the review I did on it.
